We fled from the sky in the morning.
No.
We fled from the sun.But it knew us and it followed,
severed from horizon-home,
bleeding through the sky.
It crawled above us,
burning wood, crushing spirit.
Hateful. Mortal.and the ocean ate our fallen tyrant. Easily.
Then night came
We gave a cry, defiant
and sailed into the west.
We have not turned or faltered.
We have not gone below.
And though the sky remains a crimson fire,
this time we sail towards it.
Smiling. Free.

Ahhhh Ghosts?!?!
scary.
mmmm.. The political 'up at at em'' vein in it gives me all the good tingles. I do love political activism and revolutions. I hope to participate in one someday. I think it definitely captures the spirit of woodford in essence, particular that under current that this year had what with the monsoons. I like the fire - because it relates and its real.
my only real point of sale is;
and the ocean wrapped a lotus round the fallen tyrant's rage - I think maybe the reference is a little obscure.
But hell its poetry - and you're allowed a little obscurity. i know what my tutors would say... and those unimaginative little bunnies in my tuts. Restrictive bunch that they are.
I don't know danny boy.
I like the way you empower your readers with imagery of the brimstone in the soul and all the things we hope to achieve. I like your melancholy.

I hate that line. That line hates me. The Lotus line took up about half of the two hours it took to write this and it still hates me. Now that there aren't criteria I'm thinking of taking another whack at it.
Your words are lovely. Thank you.
Sorry we didn't meet at Woodford. There was less work-free time than last year and a lot of it was spent sleeping or aimlessly wandering. Because I'm such a party animal. I hope you had a good time.

Maybe it does need to be read out loud, and It still conjures up wonderful imagery.. (ahh, Straddy... sunrises.. *falls into a pit of despair*) but, it feels like.. almost.. too much.
It gives a message.. 'Hateful. Mortal.' - good line.. but still, too.. I don't know.. wordy.
I think I made my point. But probably not. I still aspire to write like you.
